Today the third EU Energy Policy Summit is being held in Brussels. This event brings together representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, national governments, energy regulators and the energy industry, and academia, civil society and the media to discuss EU energy initiatives and their impact on the European energy market. A key topic will be how EU energy policies can contribute to meeting the targets set in the Paris climate agreement, and participants will have the opportunity to publically debate this with decision-makers in the field of energy. Speakers include European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas, and European Commission Director-General for Energy Dominique Ristori.
The summit will feature sessions on decarbonising the European economy via energy efficiency and the use of innovation and new technologies; energy security, energy diplomacy and resilience of energy systems; digital technologies and energy consumers; and energy market design and investment.
