The project consists of the expansion of the quay No 26 of the Container Terminal of the Pier No 6 in order to acquire deeper berths to serve the envisaged cargo volumes.
The project includes:
-Marine works concerning the longitudinal extension of the Quay No 26 by 650m (including land reclamation and backfilling)
-Pavements and drainage works for the new Terminal yards and the existing areas of the Container Terminal
-Electromechanical installations (high voltage, area lighting, network supply of gantry cranes, low voltage installations, etc.)
-General dredging to -16.5m (Mean Sea Level - MSL)
-New building works (service offices, fuel station, security control)

The project will:
-develop new, deeper quays (-16.50m depth MSL) and increase Container Terminal capacity to 1.36 million TEUs per year
-acquire modern, high-performance handling and storing equipment in order to be able to serve larger container ships
-serve direct calls and bigger vessels
-provide berth window to liner services
-develop capacity for loading / unloading containers on trains and transportation with block & shuttle trains directly from the Container Terminal
-provide direct access for trucks adopting modern gate processes

Guarantees are expected from the constructor of the project based on the national legislation in order to ensure the qualitative construction and completion of the project according to the contract.

Environmental Conditions Approval for the construction of the project is valid up to 21/12/2022. Master Plan of ThPA S.A. and Environmental Impact Assessment regarding Master Plan have already been submitted for approval to the responsible Ministries (Port Planning and Development Committee of the Hellenic Ministry of Mercantile Marine and Island Policy and Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy respectively).
