The Horizon 2020 project POWER4BIO aims at empowering policy makers and other stakeholders of ten EU regions to develop or revise existing regional bioeconomy strategies.
One of its main activities is the exchange of information on business models, best practices, existing and potential value-chains by regular cross-visits of the regions participating in the project. To date, five cross-visits to Hungary, Italy, Bavaria, Flanders and Ukraine have already taken place. Partners from the POWER4BIO consortium, other related bioeconomy projects and numerous regional stakeholders met to exchange ideas and experiences about the development of regional bioeconomy strategies and to experience best practice examples during on-site in field visits to innovative companies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the cross-visits to the Lviv region, Ukraine, was organised as an online meeting, as will the next one in Germany.
POWER4BIO has also developed a catalogue of bio-based solutions to fully realise the bioeconomy potential of each region. Solutions include production of bioenergy, biomaterials, biochemicals and food & feed. The catalogue is for regional stakeholders and provides an overview of available options to convert biomass into bio-based products. You can search by product, feedstock, technology… The solution factsheets contain a short description and several characteristics of the solution, as well as info regarding suitability of biomass feedstock for production of the target product, benefits of the solution related to the value chain and specific constraints for implementation.
