“Any management action in permanent grasslands can potentially have a significant impact on the sustainability of the vegetation cover and animal production, but also on the people which live in these territories, as well as on urban societies which benefit from the multiple ecosystems services coming from them”, says Koldo Osoro, coordinating expert of the EIP-AGRI Focus Group Profitability of Permanent Grassland. Permanent grasslands cover more than 60 million hectares across the EU-28 and they have a crucial role for many livestock production systems and other ecosystem-services.
