The Flemish coordination centre for Manure Processing (VCM) has just launched a new digital discussion platform for all topics related to manure processing. It is a forum to connect everyone involved in this activity. This forum is set up in Dutch and English and is easy to use.
The forum offers the opportunity for people to:
Liesbeth Verheyen, president of the Flemish coordination centre for Manure Processing: “We want to invite all actors to visit this forum, so they can be kept up-to-date about the latest developments in manure processing. The forum is also a tool where discussions can be held, ideas can develop and can be exchanged or partners can be searched. You can also launch your own innovative idea or concept.”
VCM is a non-profit organisation that started in 1996 and acts as the primary contact and advisory point in Flanders for manure processors and other stakeholders involved in this field. They have a coordinating and facilitating role between the government and the private sector, as it is an intermediary platform and a partnership between both parties. They guarantee that information that comes from projects they are participating in, are translated into ready to use tools for farmers and manure processors. Often they organise visits to manure processing plants to exchange knowledge between interested stakeholders, for example a recent tour to a biogas plant and biological manure treatment system.
From 2 to 4 December, the second ManuREsource conference will take place in Ghent, Belgium. This conference will stimulate the exchange of experiences between regions on the policy measures taken for coping with manure surpluses, both in terms of manure management in a broad sense, and more specifically in terms of manure treatment. This conference also aims to give an overview of the current developments and innovations in manure treatment technologies and to explore various valorisation strategies for manure, like energy production and nutrient recovery. This conference is organised by the Flemish Coordination Centre for Manure Processing, Ghent University, POM West Flanders and Inagro. Highlights from the ManuREsource conference will also appear on the VCM forum.
