Facebook and Funka, leading accessibility specialists, are co-organizing a virtual hackathon on accessibility and inclusion. Take the chance to pitch your product or idea to a panel of experts in accessibility and win Oculus Quest 2!
The initiative aims to mobilize and encourage students from across Europe to create innovative digital solutions for increased accessibility, something which plays a key role in the field of active and healthy ageing. Your solution proposal could be for a programme, a full app, a tool, or any digital solution intended to promote equal access to persons with disabilities. Learn more about the types of disability that people experience from the World Health Organization's Health Topic on Disability.
Any student or group of students can participate, free of charge.
You are required to submit your solution/idea no later than on November, the 9th. Your proposal should be submitted in the form of a document (PDF, digital office format or online) up to 2,500 words that describes your solution. Please, describe the audience that your solution will support, the access issue you will address and the parameters of your solution. You may include media items to complement your proposal such as images, mockups, audio recordings or links to prototypes.
The pre-selected finalists will present their ideas at an online Zoom-event on the 30th of November, between 4.00 and 5.30 pm CET, streamed via Facebook Live. The solutions will be assessed by a panel of judges consisting of representatives of disabled persons organisations, the most renowned accessibility experts, policy makers and Facebook professionals.
The winner(s) will receive Oculus Quest 2 - the next generation of all-in-one VR and have a great opportunity to meet with members of Facebook's Accessibility Team!
International sign interpretation and live captioning will be provided during the event.
