The Ageing Strategy of the Principality of Asturias (ESTRENA) will guide until 2021 the policies aimed at promoting healthy, autonomous and participative longevity in our region, while promoting this area as a source of innovation, research and opportunities for sustainable economic development. It aims to respond to a society such as the Asturian one, which has an ever-increasing life expectancy and in which the social profile of older people is changing considerably with respect to past decades and seeks to maintain the comprehensive and innovative approach that the European Union has recognised Asturias by granting it the distinction of Reference Site in active ageing policies. This participation process is complemented by the contributions made by the members of the Social Agreement 2016-2019, by the Asturian Federation of Councils, by the members of the partnership that make Asturias a European reference site in the field of active ageing and, finally, by the Advisory Council of Elderly People of Asturias.
