MISTRAL is a network of scientists and practitioners working in universities and research institutes, community organizations mostly NGO, health and social care providers, local and regional authorities and companies mostly SME, interested in joining efforts that can have a real impact on changing behaviors and life styles that conduce to frailty in older age and to the unsustainable situation in the health and the social care systems. MISTRAL is a multidisciplinary, multimodal, community-based technology-supported approach to services, governance and research aiming at building social capacity at the community level, empowering individuals to be co-producers of their health and involved in meaningful social networks that encourage active healthy living. The MISTRAL partners commit to: (i) research the use of ICT to: 1) deliver multimodal services able to foster active healthy ageing, by fighting stress and promoting physical and mental activity, better nutrition and eating habits and social participation and engagement and 2) manage related chronic conditions and diseases; (ii) monitor and assess evidence about the impact of these ICT-based services in social and health care systems; (iii) map good practices and assess for transferability, including participatory design and evaluation methodologies; (iv) work with the communities in order to assess needs, expectations and barriers involved in large scale adoption of such services and prepare them for adoption; (iv) develop business models for scaling up in Europe.
