Want to study in Europe for 3-12 months?
Studying abroad has been shown to have a positive effect on later job prospects. It is also an opportunity to improve your language skills, gain self-confidence and independence and immerse yourself in a new culture. With the European Union's Erasmus+ programme, you can study part of your study programme abroad in one of the following 33 countries.
Opportunities are available for students at Bachelor, Master or Doctorate levels. You can also combine studying abroad with a traineeship.
The Erasmus+ programme is open to students around the world who are registered in a higher education institution and enrolled in studies leading to a recognised degree or other recognised higher education qualification (up to and including the level of doctorate). There are also opportunities for students from Europe to study at partner higher education institutions in other parts of the world.
Under the scheme, students do not have to pay tuition fees for their time abroad. You might also be eligible for a grant contributing to living costs and travel expenses. To be eligible, you need to be studying at a higher education institution that is part of the Erasmus+ scheme. Ask your university or find out more about Erasmus+ by following the initiative on Facebook and Twitter.
The summer months are ideal to experience studying in Europe. Consider participating in a summer school during your months off. Many European universities offer summer courses about a wide array of subjects. Summer courses are often international, with people from all over the world. They can vary in length from a week to two months. Following a summer course is truly a great way to meet new people, discover a new country and deepen your knowledge of a certain topic. Find more information about on the country profiles.
Europe offers many opportunities if you want to increase your language skills. Be it English, French, Spanish, German, or another language, there are many language courses across the continent. Commercial organisations can organise complete trips with classes in the morning and time to practice and experience, while exploring the city in the afternoons. The length and level of the course are open for you to choose. You can also check to see if higher education institutions offer language courses during the summer months.
