Use sustainable forms of transport

Cycling is a very sustainable daily mode of transport. Cities across Europe are becoming increasingly cyclist-friendly with bicycle sharing systems are becoming ever more widespread.

European towns and cities also typically have excellent local transport systems. Some cities have integrated payment methods that enable passengers to use different forms of public transport with one ticket, making travelling by public transport simpler and more appealing.

Turn off the tap and lights

Most of us use more water than necessary. Turn off the tap when you aren't using it and try taking a shower rather than a bath!

Many European countries are investing in green forms of energy to decrease their environmental impact. Despite this, it's still important to make sure you're mindful of how you use that energy.

Unplug device chargers when you're not using them and turn off lights and the heating when you leave your home. This will help you to not only saving money, but also to reduce your carbon footprint.

Say 'no' to disposable coffee cups and plastic water bottles

Only a very small percentage of disposable coffee cups are actually recycled. Buy a reusable cup instead and a reusable bottle for cold drinks.

In the long run, doing so will help you to save money, as drinks often come with a reduction if consumed from a reusable bottle or cup.

The European Union (EU) is committed to fighting climate change. At the top of the agenda is the European Green Deal, which aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
