Not only will you find 70 top-class universities with more than 350,000 students in total, of whom 25 per cent are international. You will also be amazed by the overwhelming landscape, exciting cultural attractions and outdoor activities to be found right at your doorstep. A great range of educational opportunities

Austria has a long tradition of higher education. The University of Vienna was founded in 1365 and is the oldest in the country. When studying in Austria, you can choose from a broad spectrum of study programmes and state-of-the-art research opportunities. The main language of instruction is German, but numerous programmes are taught in English. The higher education institutions in the country offer an ever-growing number of degree programmes (over 2,000) - you can choose between first-class research-based programmes, a world-famous education at any of the liberal arts universities, high-quality practice-oriented degree programmes at the universities of applied sciences, up-to-date teacher training and innovative programmes at private universities. 

If you have found a study programme that you like, you can directly contact the higher education institution of your choice. Admission procedures in Austria are taken care of directly by the higher education institutions themselves. Most institutions offer scholarships to help you on your way, so you can enjoy your studies, personal life and the outdoors to the full.
