This year’s recommendations of the European Commission to the Member States underline that access to quality education and training is key to provide skills and competences to all citizens. Expected changes in the labour market underpin a life-long learning perspective.

All Member States have a recommendation in either education, training or skills. This highlights the importance of these fields for the economic and social development.

As part of the European Semester the European Commission carries out country analysis and issues a series of country-specific recommendations in various policy areas. The recommendations give guidance to Member States to respond adequately to persisting and new economic and social challenges and to deliver on their shared key policy objectives.
