The European Commission funds various initiatives develop skills and make qualifications more transferrable across the EU.
European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations
ESCO is the multilingual classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations.
The ESCO classification identifies and categorises skills, competences, qualifications and occupations relevant for the EU labour market and education and training. ESCO has been developed in an open IT format and is available free of charge to everyone.
Europass is a set of five documents to make your skills and qualifications clearly and easily understood in Europe.
Two documents are freely accessible and can be completed by anyone:
- the Curriculum Vitae helps you present your skills and qualifications effectively and clearly.
- the Language Passport is a self-assessment tool for language skills and qualifications.
The Europass Mobility, the Certificate Supplement and the Diploma Supplement are issued by education and training authorities to record and describe the knowledge and skills that you have acquired in another European country, in vocational education and training or in higher education.
Learning Opportunities and Qualifications in Europe
This initiative provides information on courses, work-based learning and qualifications in the EU. It is readily searchable and includes information on the European Qualifications Framework a tool to help you compare qualification systems in the EU.
