EU-CELAC Knowledge week

The EU events on support for academic cooperation organised by the European Commission took place in the framework of the EU-CELAC Knowledge Week, which was held from 2 to 6 of October 2017 in San Salvador.

The EU-CELAC Knowledge Week included an event for national authorities on research and innovation, an Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020 Information Event, a Seminar on Recognition of study periods abroad and the Academic and Knowledge Summit.

The aim of the events organised by the European Commission was to provide information about the EU's support for academic cooperation and exchange best practice to facilitate the recognition of study periods abroad.

Presentations of the events

The information event on Erasmus+ and Horizon 2020 featured several presentations from representatives of EU institutions and from universities and individuals from the academic community that have participated in European projects.

The day ended with a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Erasmus+ during which the emphasis was placed on the experience of students, academics and young people from civil society. Students will be able to find information on scholarship opportunities in the following presentation on "Erasmus+ for students".

The seminar on the recognition of periods of study abroad proved to be an excellent platform to exchange best practice on removing obstacles to student mobility.

  • Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Latin American Reference Credit (CLAR).
  • "CAMINOS", the experience of an Erasmus + project for Capacity Building in the field of higher education to improve the management of academic mobility between Latin America and Europe.
  • "Erasmus without Paper", sharing the most innovative approaches to manage mobility through IT tools and avoid exchanging printed documents.
  • "Egracons" the project that has developed an online system for grades conversion.
