The conference brings together leading figures from academia and economic policy-making circles, altogether forming an audience of about 80 invited participants, to discuss the research carried out in the context of DG ECFIN's Fellowship Initiative 2014-2015 under the overall theme "Forward to a New Normal:Growth, integration and structural convergence revisited".
The conference will feature two sessions with more formal presentations of research, and two sessions in the format of panel debates. The opening session I will be devoted to a discussion of ways to embolden the recovery, sustaining investment into the future,to be followed by a panel debate on structural convergence and economic governance in EMU. The afternoon session II will see presentations of the research on debt and deleveraging, banking and capital union. The final panel debate on the political economy of EMUwill allow to discuss the pertinent economic policy questions in a relatively free-flowing format. We are happy to confirm that Vice-President Jyrki Katainen and Commissioner Pierre Moscovici have agreed to deliver lead interventions at the opening session and at the concluding panel debate, respectively. Please note that the conference will be held under Chatham House rules and attendance will be possible upon accepted registration only.
