"On Solid Ground", a photo exhibition funded by ECHO, in cooperation with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Panos Pictures will be on display in central Brussels until 20 December. Don't miss the launch event today from 18:30 to 21:00, in Salle Zinneke at BIP (Brussels Info Place), 10-11 Rue Royale.
The exhibition and the opening event is part of a campaign to raise awareness about the conditions of refugees and internally displaced people, which was launched on World Refugee Day in June with the involvement of Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response.
Built around the concept of home, "On Solid Ground" illustrates the work that ECHO and the IRC undertake in helping refugees around the world. A captivating series of photographs from Mali, Kenya, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jordan, Pakistan and Croatia allows the audiences to connect with the challenges faced by people affected by humanitarian crises across the globe. "On Solid Ground" tells the stories of those starting afresh in unfamiliar cities, rebuilding the homes they were forced to abandon, or embracing new means of survival in the face of crisis.
After touring several European cities - London, Perpignan, Vienna, Munich, Zagreb - the exhibition now moves to Brussels and is displayed at Place de l'Albertine.
