"At any given moment, somewhere in the world, a child faces danger.
A boy is separated from his family ― lost and vulnerable ― following an earthquake.
A girl, displaced by war, is making the perilous journey to a refugee camp far from home.
A mother helplessly watches her children starve or go without medicine or clean water ― all because they live in a country torn by conflict."

EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake

Every year, the European Union and UNICEF work together to help millions of children affected by emergencies in their hour of greatest need. We ensure those boys and girls have access to nutritious food, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare, shelter and education - protecting them from violence and creating hope. Today we are launching the 'Voices of Children in Emergencies' campaign, a joint initiative to amplify the testimonies of children living through natural disasters, food crises and armed conflicts.

Goodwill ambassadors such as actor Ewan McGregor, basketball player Pau Gasol and football player Robert Lewandowski will lend their voices to those boys and girls caught in humanitarian crises. In addition, the EU and UNICEF will be calling on citizens worldwide to share children's features, videos and other audiovisual materials through their own networks in support of their brave struggles. The campaign is being launched globally, and will be rolled out across Europe focusing mainly on in six EU Member States: Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain.

The EU and UNICEF have been working closely together for over 20 years to extend immediate relief assistance to children and women. Our strong partnership has benefitted millions in over 55 countries with food and nutrition aid, healthcare, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, protection from violence, cash transfers, disaster risk reduction, preparedness and resilience building.

Each of us can make a difference. Share the children's stories. Help them raise their voices.
