Once South America’s richest nation sitting on the world’s largest oil reserves, Venezuela’s deepening economic collapse is sending millions on the roads.
Every day, thousands of Venezuelans leave their country in search of food and healthcare, in Colombia and throughout South America. Some cannot even afford a bus ticket and walk for hundreds of kilometres to their final destination.
With EU funding, the Colombian Red Cross has set up mobile health care units on the road so that Venezuelans can get medical attention, fresh water, food, and can call their families back home.
