The 2015-16 El Niño phenomenon brought about a devastating drought that swept across large swathes of Southern Africa, destroying crops and livestock in its wake. In Lesotho, as the drought left hundreds of families without food and basic commodities, the European Commission has partnered with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to offer cash assistance to the most vulnerable, as well as training to build resilience against climate change.
