Helping communities to recover from shocks and react promptly when disasters strike are integral parts of the humanitarian aid provided by the European Commission. Funding organisations on the ground, the EU provides tailor-made assistance to particularly vulnerable communities. Asseta Sawadogo from Burkina-Faso is a beneficiary of EU aid. Aissata has taken part in a project run by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) aiming to strengthen the resilience of the local population by distributing cash vouchers and small livestock.
