    Vision-Box works on a smartphone token for faster ID controls in airports

    The rapid growth in air travel has made the task of controlling borders increasingly cumbersome. Passengers frequently face long queues and the inconvenience of juggling bags, passports and tickets as they pass through airport controls. Portuguese company Vision-Box is working on a technology that allows travellers to store multiple ID documents (such as passport, citizen ID card, membership cards) in a smartphone which can then be used to permit hands-free authentication at authorised touch points. Vision-Box will be with us on the occasion of two events this month. Come meet them!

    19 EIC pilot innovators met SUEZ

    On 14 and 15 November, the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and SUEZ, in partnership with Naturgy, promoted a Corporate Day in Barcelona. 19 companies funded by the SME Instrument strand from the EIC pilot, shared their vision towards a circular economy with top corporate representatives.

    16 companies funded by the EIC pilot compete for a spot at the European Venture Contest Final 2018

    The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and TechTour are promoting two exclusive online pitching sessions on Healthtech and Digital Technologies on 15 November. The best companies in each pitching session will pitch at the European Venture Contest Final in Düsseldorf where they will meet with 120+ investors.

    20 EIC companies selected for business acceleration event with SUEZ in Barcelona

    The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and SUEZ, in partnership with Naturgy, are promoting a networking and pitching event at the Museu Agbar de les Aigües in Barcelona on 14 and 15 November. A selected number of companies funded by the EIC pilot will have the chance to share their vision towards a circular economy.

    2223 small businesses seek funding under the EIC SME Instrument

    The European Commission received 2223 proposals for the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot‘s SME Instrument Phase 1 before the latest cut-off date on 7 November 2018. SMEs from 41 countries submitted proposals. Stay tuned – results will come out in December 2018.

    EIC pilot-funded Sensius steals the show winning the EBAN-EASME October Scaleup of the Month and the EBAN Winter Summit Pitching Contest

    In May 2018, the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot’s funded company Sensius won the first EBAN-EASME Scaleup of the Month. As the winner of the ePitch, Sensius was invited to pitch at the EBAN Winter Summit. Two weeks ago in Luxembourg at EBAN’s (the European Business Angel Network) Winter Summit, Sensius stole the show by winning the Pitching Contest.

    Finnish startup Varjo raises €27m to launch its virtual reality headset on the market

    Virtual reality resolution is still very far from human-eye resolution. Or at least it used to be. EIC-funded start-up Varjo just raised a €27m private financing for its new technology, which is able to reproduce the level of detail of human sight in virtual reality (VR) products.

    14 EIC pilot-funded companies to pitch at Electrolux’s Innovation Factory in Italy

    On 30 October, a selected group of 14 companies funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot will present their solutions to Electrolux at the Innovation Factory, a collaborative space which serves as the Electrolux Group’s hub for innovation with external partners.
