The annual flagship event of the European Commission aims at creating connections between cutting-edge scientific research and the most pressing challenges of a generation. The event comprises the 'Science is Wonderful!' exhibition and a Policy Conference – divided into ambitious plenary sessions spanning the depth and breadth of research and innovation in Europe, and specialised hubs covering 10 pivotal themes.

EIC Planet.tech interview with Advisory Board Member Jim Hagemann SnabeLast week, 3 and 4 June, saw the kick-off of yet another new EIC-initiative, Planet.tech, an event focused on EU Green Deal-challenges. It brought together 28 EIC-backed start-ups/scale-ups with four large corporates, namely AB InBEV, Deme, Nestle and P&G, with the objective to develop a number of Proof of Concepts (PoC) and enhance the cooperation between all parties.
EIC Corporate Day with BBVA and Ferrovial: exploring new roads for cooperationThe European Innovation Council (EIC), in collaboration with BBVA and Ferrovial, organised an online Corporate Day on 26 and 27 May 2020, bringing together 19 EIC-backed SMEs with over 50 corporates representatives. The online Corporate Day was the second event of its kind to be organised this month and gave SMEs and corporate representatives the opportunity to find synergies and explore business opportunities and further collaborations.
EIC Innovation Training Workshop: Connecting research to the real worldOn 13 and 14 May the European Innovation Council hosted an Innovation Training Workshop for projects from the EIC Pathfinder programme, previously known as Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) programme. During these two days, 13 participants had the opportunity to help shape their research ideas and bring it into a concrete business concept. This was also the first Business Acceleration Services event dedicated to Pathfinder researchers.
EIC Corporate Day with Enel: powering up your business onlineOn 12 May the European Innovation Council organised its first online Corporate Day, with Enel, the global energy company. Originally planned as a physical event to be held in March, it was fully digitalised for the convenience of the participating SMEs and corporate representatives. 33 EIC-backed SMEs had the chance to pitch their innovations in the field of renewable energy, smart cities and grid solutions, among others. Over 40 Enel representatives took part in listening to the pitches and scouting projects.
EIC ePitching with Procurers on COVID19: finding common solutions togetherThe European Innovation Council brought together over 50 public and private procurers, five European corporates and more than 20 EIC-backed SMEs during the first EIC ePitching with Procurers, a dedicated session on COVID19-solutions. The procurers, public as well as private-sector, and the SMEs had the opportunity to pitch their needs and respective solutions and follow-up with dedicated one-to-one sessions in the afternoon.
