Last 14 May, the BMW Startup Garage, the Venture Client unit of the BMW Group, welcomed 12 SME Instrument companies to present their ideas and business cases for the future of mobility and the automotive sector.

The event was comprised of presentation sessions and one-on-one meetings, giving companies the opportunity to present their solutions to all attendees, but also to further discuss them in detail with selected BWM representatives.

When asked to comment on the event and the companies present Bernhard Schambeck, Head of BMW Startup Garage, stated that “We look for companies that offer us extraordinary technical solutions or innovations. I think the selection of companies here today is very high-quality and that’s exactly what we found”.

Anja Bölicke, CEO of German company Silicon Radar, one of the companies selected by BWM, also expressed that “Networking is one of the most important things for a small company like ours. These events are very important and allow us to get familiar and hands-on with prospective big clients”. She further went on to say “It’s not so easy for a small company like Silicon Radar to get to a level where you can have such big players like BWM speak to you”.

The Business Acceleration Services available to companies funded under the European Innovation Council pilot were designed to provide smaller companies opportunities to scale-up their business and create opportunities for partnering and closing deals with leading corporates.
