Looking for experts on coastal and maritime tourism: Help us evaluate project proposals

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

We are looking for experts on coastal and maritime tourism to help us select project proposals for funding under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and to monitor their implementation.

Experts on coastal and maritime tourism are invited to register in the European Commission's database of experts in maritime and fisheries policy.

From this database EASME is selecting candidates with the most suitable profile for the following activities:

  • Evaluating project proposals submitted in response to EMFF calls for proposals, or
  • Monitoring the implementation of actions funded under the EMFF.

Expert evaluators are asked to examine proposals against published criteria providing comments and scores which will form the bases of the European Commission's funding decision. The experts' working language is English; a good ability to write and discuss in English is an essential requirement.

In order to have a balanced pool of experts, we would like to encourage especially candidates from the northern half of the EU and/or women to register as experts.

How does it work?

Projects are monitored and evaluated either remotely, i.e. at the expert's home or place of work, usually during 3 to 5 days over a period of two weeks, or in sessions of 3 to 5 days in Brussels. The next evaluations in the field of maritime and coastal tourism are planned for spring 2017 ('Nautical Routes for Europe' call for proposals).

Once contracted, experts are entitled to a fee of EUR 450 for each full day actually worked and to the reimbursement of travel and subsistence expenses. Remote evaluation work is reimbursed based on the number and type of proposals evaluated. For further details, please have a look at the Model Contract for Experts.

    Dear Mr Buisman,

    Thank you for your interest.

As indicated in section 4 of the call for expressions of interest, submission of your expression of interest (by registering in our database) equals inclusion in the list of experts; there is no specific information to confirm inclusion in the list. Then, depending on when there is a particular task to be performed, the contracting authority will assign experts to that specific task in accordance with the criteria explained in the call.

    With kind regards,

    The EASME EMFF Team

    Hi there,

Just wondering when the closing date for applications is?

  • laugemu's picture

    Dear Dave,
    Thank you for your enquiry.
There is no closing date for this experts registration. Nevertheless a first cut-off and assessment of the different profile of experts that we have gathered will be done around mid March for experts in the tourism field. Should you be interested by applying for this profile, please make sure that you register before the 15/03/2017.

    With kind regards,

Lot of information sources and difficult to follow... As I have seen in the previous posts there was an unofficial deadline pasted. Does it make sence to apply now? Should I have in mind to a new call (in the same topic) in the future?

  • Anonymous's picture

    Dear Giorgios,

Thank you for your question.in fact, this is a permanent call for experts to cover needs that are arising all year long and in 2018. The call for experts in the tourism field is permanent as well. Currently, as we need to evaluate applications for a call fro proposals ( for nautical routes) a selection has been made in the experts already registered. This shouldn't prevent you to register anyway, as we might need experts in this field to evaluate call for proposals in the future.
    Hope this clarifies it!
    Kind regards,
