Four innovative companies joined the SME Instrument in the Security and Counter Terror Expo 2018 in London Olympia from 6-7 March: Audax, Cardlab, Mydefence and Insikt Intelligence. The Expo is one of the largest events dedicated to this topic gathering more than 10.000 senior professionals from government and private sector to discuss and explore new threats, risk management, capabilities and resilience strategies.
The companies were exhibiting at the SME Instrument stand that was visited by the European Commissioner for Security Union Sir Julian King on 6 March. The Commissioner was impressed by the innovativeness and specific knowledge of the companies. “With today's constantly evolving security challenges it is very important that the EU invest in innovation in the field of security”, said the Commissioner. ”Small and agile innovative businesses hold many keys to developing solutions to forthcoming security challenges and meeting the needs of security practitioners on the ground”.
In addition pioneering SME Instrument-funded Audax won for the 2018 Counter Terror Awards in the category ‘Communication Systems’ for their Body Worn video technology. The award recognises communication systems and their potential to assist organisations in both threat detection and post-terrorism communication between governmental and emergency service organisations.
