How to make funds fit for the sustainability age? Sustainable investing is becoming a mainstream area of focus among fund managers. The need to attain climate and sustainable development goals requires the alignment of investments with these objectives or, at the very least, the guarantee that investments do no put them at stake. The session will explore the different methods and products being developed in this regard, including those by the European Commission and in particular under InvestEU, and how the industry is adapting to the sustainability challenge. Innovative companies will find the session useful for the alignment of their activities with the sustainability criteria being incorporated into public and private funds.
Showcasing of Green Deal innovators. There is a need for urgent action to support the next breakthrough technologies in green deal innovations in order to attain the climate and the sustainable development goals. The objective of this session is to showcase great green deal innovation supported by different EU financial instruments and initiatives: InnovFin Energy Demonstration projects, European Innovation Council, and European Institute of Technology InnoEnergy.
Breakthrough solutions to COVID by EIC / InnovFin-funded companies. Thanks to the strong cooperation with the European Investment Bank under the Infectious Diseases Finance Facility (IDFF) and increased budget targeting this challenge, Europe is able to provide financing to European innovators developing solutions against COVID-19. The aim of this session is to demonstrate innovative European companies which develop solutions against COVID-19 in the areas of prophylactics, diagnostics and therapeutics, thanks to the IDFF initiative. Currently there is a very large pipeline of COVID-19 related projects from 11 countries worth close to EUR 500 million being reviewed by the EIB. The session will also highlight how the EIC Pilot targeting COVID-19 awarded EUR 166 million to 36 innovative projects and will update us on where they are.
