"Sustainable Management of Degraded Peatlands and Climate Change Mitigation"
This final event from the project LIFE REstore covers:

  • the influence of differently managed peatlands on climate change mitigation;
  • how to develop national GHG emission factors;
  • after-use of peatlands affected by peat extraction and recommendations on how they can be managed sustainably;
  • how to include assessment of ecosystem services in the planning of future use of degraded peatlands.

It will include demonstrations of the project’s database and optimisation methods, and a field trip to demonstration sites where after-use measures were put into practice.
Location: University of Latvia, Riga
