Staff from the Directorates for Climate (DG CLIMA), Environment (DG ENV), Energy (ENER) and the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) are hosting a stand at this year’s EU Open Days to present the EU’s actions on environment and climate issues.
2 LIFE projects will also exhibit at the event in Brussels, offering visitors a chance to learn about – and contribute to – their work.
Meet the projects
LIFE LEMA is working on developing smart tools to manage marine litter. Children visiting the open day can paint mini wooden boats and see them float in a pool. The boats will then be released in the sea, in order to track marine litter flows.
LIFE EuroTurtles is working to protect sea turtles in the Mediterranean. It has developed an interactive app to build a database about swimming and nesting tracks, based on users’ direct observations. The project will offer entertainment for children, while older visitors can meet the experts and learn how they can help.
