This year’s annual meeting of Belgian LIFE Nature project coordinators is organised by the Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide nature reserve. The area is the subject of the project LIFE Helvex, which runs cross-border restoration of inland dunes and pools and integrated plant management.
The park lies between the Belgium region of Flanders and the Netherlands, and so LIFE Helvex demonstrates how restoration activities can be managed across borders.
Participating LIFE projects will visit one of Europe’s largest oligotrophic standing waters – lakes with very low nutrients but which sustain life – and a project restoring continental dunes.
