    EIC pilot entrepreneurs and Orange come together at matchmaking event

    On 14 March, the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and Orange promoted an exclusive matchmaking event. 16 companies funded by the EIC SME Instrument had the opportunity to pitch their business cases and meet with corporate representatives at the Orange Labs in Paris.

    68 top-class innovative companies get €120 million from EIC SME Instrument

    68 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form 19 countries have been selected for funding under the latest round of the European Innovation Council’s SME Instrument strand. The companies will receive a total amount of €119.9 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.

    A new take on aircraft interiors could make production cheaper and cleaner

    To meet the strict fire and weight requirements for aircraft interiors, the current solution is to use a fire-resistant composite made of phenolic resin with glass fibre reinforcement. But phenolic parts have many drawbacks. One EU project has found a greener, cheaper alternative. The IntAir project funded by the European Innovation Council pilot's Fast Track to Innovation strand, wants to refine the materials and upscale the manufacturing process for a new generation of aircraft interior composites that are cheaper, lighter and safer than the toxic materials that are currently used.​
