Project abstract

The ATAS project gathers a public-private consortium from 4 destinations in the Adriatic Sea with the aim to create a thematic touristic route on Adriatic underwater archaeological heritage from the Antique period.  The main idea is to create a common online platform for a Network of Adriatic destinations with as objective to enable SMEs and institutions to promote their touristic services to the specific target audience in order to provide sustainable promotional support which SMEs cannot afford individual.

The more specific objectives are to increase the overall visibility of underwater heritage and raise awareness of its preservation, enhance diversification in tourism offer, improve competitiveness and enable destinations to extend their season and for SMEs to keep full employment for a longer period.

By building a Network of destinations connected under the same “Antique Traps of Adriatic Sea” umbrella the project raises awareness of transnational European Antique Underwater Heritage and will create synergies increasing the interest in this specific Cultural Heritage as travel destination.
