The SME Instrument is part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot that supports top class innovators, entrepreneurs and small companies with funding opportunities and acceleration services. The main focus of the SME Instrument is on market-creating innovations that shape new markets and generate jobs, growth and higher standards of living.

    CELLINK partnerships and acquisitions complement strong organic growth

    Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, CELLINK is developing bioprinting technology with a focus on making it easy to use for non-experts. Founded in 2016, Cellink went straight to an IPO on Nasdaq First North that year, raising €360,000 (SEK 3.7M). In 2018 the company received a Phase 2 grant from the EIC pilot SME Instrument of € 2.4 million.

    277 innovators selected for funding under EIC’s SME Instrument

    A total of 277 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form 25 countries have been selected for funding under the latest round of the SME Instrument, in the so-called Phase 1 of the programme. The companies will receive a total amount of €13.7 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.

    EIC pilot and EDP promote matchmaking day for energy innovators

    The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot and EDP organised a matchmaking day for startups and scaleups working in the energy sector. On 26 March, a total of 29 entrepreneurs had the chance to pitch their solutions and engage in bilateral meetings with corporate representatives in Lisbon.
