This workshop gathered important insights to feed the current policymaking, days before the publication of the new Circular Economy Action plan and the New Industrial Strategy for Europe.

    AFRIMED: Restoring macroalgae in the Mediterranean Sea

    Macroalgae and sea grasses are central to healthy coastal ecosystems. They sustain coastal food chain and biodiversity. Currently, coastal algae habitats are under increasing pressure, due to human activities and climate change. EMFF funded project AFRIMED is mapping historical and current presence of Cystoseira macroalgae with the aim to restore damaged underwater forests and contribute to advancing international ocean governance along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea.
