John Higgins CBE graduated from the University of East Anglia and began a career in IT with the London Brick Company. He held senior positions with Ernst & Young and worked in Chicago with the leading software company SSA. In 1995 he was appointed CEO of the Rocket Networks based in Los Angeles. He returned to the UK in 1998 and became Director General of the Computing Services and Software Association. John then became Director General of Intellect UK for nine years before joining DIGITALEUROPE in 2011 where he is currently also active as Director General.
John is a Board member of the University of Warwick and e-skills, the UK’s digital sector skills council. His other roles include the chair of several industry committees with CBI and the World IT Services Association, WITSA. He was presented with two awards for outstanding contributions to the association and industry sectors. The Queen appointed him a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2005 for his services to the UK IT industry.
