With their pledge the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus aims to achieve the following:
- get access to requirements of strong industrial companies of the coalition, in terms of ICT curricula and human resources,
- offer corresponding courses, seminars and curricula on advanced ICT topics and
- create frameworks and structures that will advertise trainees and respective qualifications, in order to enable matchings. In doing so, this pledge seeks to speed up the adaptation and the provision of appropriate training courses that meet market requirements and to accelerate the matching of vacancies for digital jobs with potential workers.
Indicative 2013 roadmap:
September 2013: Publication of updated curricula based on multi-stakeholders requirements.
October 2013: Kick off of the new wave of curricula.
The Department of Digital Systems in University of Piraeus offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The Undergraduate Programme has two main directions: “Communication Systems and Networks” and “Electronic Services”. The Postgraduate Programmes of the Department have five main directions: “E-Learning”, “Network-Oriented Systems”, “Digital Communications and Networks”, “Techno-economic Management of Digital Systems” and “Digital Systems Security”. Research is being conducted through a number of laboratories.
The Department of Digital Systems has an extensive network of collaborators that among others includes tens of foreign universities that participate to the European Erasmus project. Additionally, the Department collaborates with many national and international private and public organisations in the context of European funded and other research projects.
