Richard Bruton TD was appointed Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation on March 9, 2011. He previously served as Minister for Enterprise and Employment from 1994 to 1997, and he was the Fine Gael party spokesperson on Finance and Deputy Leader of Fine Gael from 2002 to 2010. He previously served as Minister of State at the Department of Industry and Commerce from 1986 to 1987. He is a former Chair of the European Industrial Council. Richard was born in Dublin and studied at University College Dublin and Nuffield College, Oxford from where he graduated with a MPhil in Economics. He is a Research Economist by profession and was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a TD representing the Dublin North–Central constituency in 1982.
