In the context of the preparation of the forthcoming Horizon 2020 Work Programmes 2018-2020, the European Commission consulted experts to provide input for ICT-enabled public sector innovation, which resulted in an Orientation Paper. It has been compiled from expert discussions, presentations and inputs made during a workshop on 27/04/2016 in Brussels. Read more
New EU wide rules will abolish the current requirement to have an authenticity stamp on public documents (such as birth or marriage certificates) issued in one EU country before presenting them to a public authority in another EU country. If the receiving authority has serious doubts about the authenticity of a public document presented by a citizen, it will be able to consult the issuing authority through the Internal Market Information system (IMI) for back-office verification between authorities, a solution developed under the EU funded ISA programme. A consortium of 12 partners in six European countries has launched a project to develop a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for improving the efficiency and transparency of the compliance with the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) monitoring procedure. The RECAP project is supported by the EU programme on “ICT- enabled open government” until October 2018. Read more

The European Commission has opened its draft of the Sharing and Reuse Framework for public comments. The document includes ten recommendations to help overcome the key challenges public administrations face when sharing and reusing ICT solutions. For each recommendation, the Framework also offers a practical tool free of charge, e.g. the EC’s machine translation service, the Joinup repository or the European Union’s public software licence.
