The European Commission has put the spotlight on Europe's most promising digital innovations emerging from EU funded research and innovation projects. Intrinsic-ID from the Netherlands won the 2016 Innovation Radar Prize for its authentication technology. Three other EU-funded innovators secured prizes at the awards ceremony.

In accordance with the Regulation establishing Horizon 2020, the Commission, assisted by independent experts selected on the basis of a transparent process, shall carry out by the end of 2017 an interim evaluation of Horizon 2020. This interim evaluation will address questions of efficiency, effectiveness, EU added value, relevance and coherence.

The European Commission has launched a competition to identify Europe's top future innovators and their innovations. During the entire month of August, people will be able to vote for their favourite among 40 nominees who have been developing digital innovations through EU-funded projects.
In this one day workshop prior to FENS 2016, scientists from the Allen Institute for Brain Science and from the Human Brain Project will discuss early findings that have emerged from data mining and analysis of work performed through both organizations. A hands on training session will include training in effectively using the publicly available tools from both projects.
