The Greek National Centre of Scientific Research 'Demokritos' and the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece have established two new research infrastructures as part of the EU-funded RADIO project. They are designed to simulate living environments for developing and testing telehealth, service robotics and home automation technologies for assisted living and healthy ageing. Parties interested in testing their innovative research ideas are welcome to try them out. Read more

"The daily life of people with chronic diseases and frailty conditions is difficult". A group of more than 100 researchers from 13 partners and 12 countries knows that very well. With the financial support of the EU, they invested around 9M€ over the past 3 years to deliver a solution that could change the life of people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and frailty conditions. The QuantERA project opened a Call for Proposals in the field of quantum technologies. Proposals should include one or more of the following areas: quantum communication; quantum simulation; quantum computation; quantum information sciences; quantum metrology sensing and imaging; novel ideas and applications in quantum science and technologies. A Proposers' Day about this call is also organised on 16 February 2017 in Malta. Read more

The STARTS prize honours projects that demonstrate successful collaboration of science, technology and art contributing to economic and social innovation. The two prize winners will be chosen by an international jury and will each receive €20,000. The STARTS programme of the European Commission encourages collaboration between researchers and artists in projects funded under Horizon 2020. Read more

Workshop's participants were asked to reflect and comment on concrete minimum IoT privacy and security principles to create a Trusted IoT environment. In addition, they had the chance to discuss the possible adequate tools and implementation mechanisms to ensure that innovation is not hampered by heavy procedures. The workshop was jointly organised by the European Commission and the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI). Read more
