From 25/04/2017 to 25/04/2017
Understanding how the retina encodes visual information, compressing rich visual scenes into spikes trains in retinal ganglion cells, the cells that form the sole output from the retina to the brain, remains a challenging question both for biologists and computer scientists. Moreover, understanding how retinal networks encode visual information is essential to develop biologically inspired algorithms for computer vision tasks. Gaining knowledge on these biological processes may also be exploited for artificial vision and prosthetics. Read more
