Sørensen could grasp objects intuitively and identify what he was touching while blindfolded.
This clinical trial was performed by Prof. Silvestro Micera (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa and École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) and his colleagues as part of the Lifehand2 project.
The bionic hand that can feel is the result of years of research done within the CYBERHAND and NEUROBOTICS projects, funded under the Seventh Framework Program and supported by the Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Unit of the European Commission. The recently started NEBIAS project will continue the work.
