On the 9th of June at the eHealth Week in Amsterdam, the EU SME eHealth Competition Final will take place and the six best European eHealth SMEs of 2016 will be announced.
This is the eHealth Competition's fifth year assessing and awarding the best eHealth and mHealth solutions produced by SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in Europe.
Organised by TICBioMed - a Spanish non-profit organization to foster innovation in healthcare - with the support of the eHealth Week and the eHealth Unit of the European Commission, the competition offers SMEs visibility together with marketing opportunities to attract customers, partners and external capital.
Paul Timmers, Director of DG CONNECT for a Sustainable and Secure Society, explained to Mobile Health Global that the reason why the European Commission has been "financially supporting the SME competition (is) because many of the most creative eHealth innovations actually come from smaller companies." Recalling the previous year's competition and winners, Timmers states that "it was a pleasure to see such a strong field and to reward these talented ideas in eHealth."
