In order to account for them, a web-based pledge tracker has been created that is fed directly by the pledges themselves.
The first data provided show that several pledges are already making a difference through a very diverse set of activities. Here are some examples:
- The Telecentres initiative has started Local Coalitions for Digital Jobs in 10 European countries, composed by local governments, industry, employment services, educational and social actors;
- The EU Schoolnet Academy has developed a pilot of Massive Open Online Courses for secondary school teachers, in order to enhance training in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths). 2 courses are already available at http://www.europeanschoolnetacademy.eu/;
- In Italy, Didasca, Banda Larga e Menti Acute, has trained 3000 people and 1100 teachers
- The Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) has launched the e-Competence Benchmark, a tool to enable individuals and recruiters to map their competences;
- Make IT in Ireland assists companies in finding the right profiles, and candidates to find jobs by submitting their CVs. So far, almost 10.000 people are visiting the website every month;
The University of Piraeus in Greece is developing a one-stop-shop to map the needs of industrial companies , provide online courses (200 people trained so far), and offer matchmaking services for trainees;
- In Bulgaria, Telerik Academy has trained 500 people in person and more than 7000 via MOOCs;
- In Spain, Pompeu Fabra University and Everis have produced videos to promote creative ICT and Science learning, which have been broadcasted on main TV news station reaching 4 million viewers;
- The Italian Rete per le Competenze Digitali has disseminated the European e-Competence Framework, e-CF, towards 500 SMEs;
- YouRock has crowdfunded a new employability platform for young people across Europe to use their existing online content creation activities as evidence of their latent skills and aptitudes;
WePROMIS is a platform customising STEM knowledge to the needs of female entrepreneurs and those who want to be more competitive in the job market. So far, 55 scientists and experts have contributed with their knowledge.
Updates about progress are continuously being provided by each pledge and are afterwards published on the Europa website.
