Kick-starting Europe’s electric vehicle industry

Article

Electric vehicles (e-vehicles, or EVs) are set to play a key role in the future of urban mobility, reducing pollution, decreasing dependence on fossil fuels and saving drivers' money.

The European Commission supported by almost EUR 2.8 million the development of ground-breaking e-vehicle technology in the ‘Integrated enabling technologies for efficient electrical personal mobility’ (P-MOB) project.

Coordinated by Centro Ricerche Fiat in Turin, Italy, the team behind P-MOB sought to break the link between increasing transport capacity and rising road deaths, congestion and pollution by developing an e-vehicle prototype that is not only clean, but extremely safe and compact.
