The project, aiming to map and promote Future Internet Infrastructures in Europe, has been completed with major outcomes.

The INFINITY project main objective was to facilitates the creation of an international community that can collaborate to deliver the Future Internet. The project is now concluded, and its accomplishments entirely fulfill the initial challenge:

  •  XiPi - An online catalogue of Future Internet Infrastructures with more than 230 examples regurarly updated.  Experimenter can check out the large selection of future internet infrastructures and find the one that suits them better.
  • A study on Future Internet Experimental Infrastructures Roadmap which investigates how Future Internet infrastructures need to evolve and become sustainable. The roadmap can be used by public authorities at European, national and regional level, and by infrastructure owners and operators.
  • The Common Description Framework (CDF) - A taxonomy for the description of ICT related infrastructures, so that the key characteristics of infrastructures can be captured in a consistent and structured way. The ambition of the CDF is to become a standard for the description of Future Internet infrastructures.

The INFINITY project has been part of the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership initiative (FI-PPP).
