This study analyzes the growing amount of knowledge in European efforts for the application of ICT and smart systems in fully electric vehicles (FEVs) to support policy making in this area.

The study and its recommendations are one of the sources to define future research and innovation topics in automotive components, to set priorities and identify gaps of on-going activities and instruments. The following areas are recommended to be maintained and/or strengthened: vehicle ICT and electronics in general and power electronics and semiconductors, connected vehicle services, battery electronics, vehicle prognostics and health management and range extender integration in particular.
