Vice-President Neelie Kroes received on 16th December from a select industry group an updated report on an Industrial Roadmap defining specific steps Europe should take for leadership in the electronics sector.

Setting up this roadmap was part of the European Electronics Strategy released by the European Commission on 23 of May.

The roadmap is being prepared by an Electronics Leaders Group (ELG) composed of 11 CEOs. They represent the main companies in the sector. The group is chaired by Ben Verwaayen and is getting inputs from a forum of more than a 100 members representing the whole electronics value chain in Europe.

An on-line forum for discussions is also available for the larger public interested in the development of electronics in Europe. The ELG is expected to finalize the Industrial Roadmap in January 2014 and to hand it to the European Commission.
