The European Commission announces the first call for proposals under the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) "Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL)". This call will be presented at the event.

On 10th of July in 2013 the European Parliament and the Council received the "Innovation Investment Package" proposed by the European Commission. This proposal contained Joint Technology Initiatives (JTI) and Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL) was part of the set.

One year later, the first calls for proposals are to be announced. On the 9th of July 2014, the European Commission organises an event to present these first JTI's calls. President Barroso has been invited to open the event where more than 400 JTI and ECSEL stakeholders will share a networking lunch. Vice-Presidents Neelie Kroes and Siim Kallas, and Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, whose portfolios follow the areas of the JTIs, will give keynotes. MEPs and Council representatives as well as high level industry CEOs will also assist the launch.

Regarding ECSEL, a non-compulsory Expression of Interest (EoI) has been published on 26 May in anticipation of the formal Calls. The submissions shall be received by the ENIAC JU secretariat before 24 June at 17pm Brussels time. All relevant information is available in:
