This high-level event took place on 26th of June at the venue of the Committee of the Regions and on the 27th of June at the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union. The European Commission as well as Cities and Regions presented how they are supporting the implementation of Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions (PPI) and Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP).

Local and regional public purchasers shared their experiences on how PCP and PPI enable them to buy better and/or cheaper products and services while at the same time boosting innovation in order to intensify a balanced innovation process.

From a European perspective, European Commission services presented the Horizon 2020 calls for proposals for 2015 as well as future financial instruments (in Horizon 2020, CEF, Structural funds 2014-2020) to support the demand for innovation and innovative procurement.
