Berlinale 2016 to highlight past, present and future of Creative Europe MEDIA

During the Berlinale, Berlin's prestigious film festival, the European Commission is organising a full day of stakeholders events to discuss 25 years of MEDIA support and to work on solutions for the film industry's imminent challenges in a digital era.

On the occasion of the Berlin International Film Festival, European Commission's Creative Europe MEDIA organised a day of exchanges and celebrations in the presence of Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther Oettinger.

15th February 2016 - AGENDA: 

  • 10:00 - 12:30 A showcase of MEDIA-supported projects focusing on digital innovation and societal impacts, followed by a presentation of 2015 project selections and upcoming calls for proposals.
  • 14:00 - 18:15 The European Film Forum features speeches and panel discussions dedicated to new solutions and services to increase access to European audiovisual content across Europe.
  • 18:15-21:00 The day closes with the announcement of the 25th anniversary of the MEDIA programme, an opportunity to renew its commitment to moving images, moving European works and preserving cultural diversity while adapting to new digital realities. This will include an opening speech by Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Günther Oettinger; An exchange of views with MEP Silvia Costa; and different testimonials of actors and directors about the 25 years of MEDIA.
